About the Course

By the end of this course, participants will apply caregiving skills on toileting, hygiene and mobility to support the safety, dignity, and well-being of bed bound seniors.

Learning Outcomes

1. Introduction


2. Identify and analyze age-related physical, emotional, and cognitive changes, and relate these to corresponding caregiving needs using examples from real-life scenarios.


3. Demonstrate proper handwashing and hygiene practices consistently and accurately in   real-life care scenarios, following established infection control protocols.


4. Accurately use appropriate equipment to measure and document vital signs—including   temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation—according to standard procedures.


5. Execute basic mobility exercises safely and adjust techniques to accommodate individual senior needs and conditions.


6. Administer oral medications accurately according to prescribed schedules, adhering to safety precautions and documentation procedures.


7. Analyze nutritional principles and apply them to plan, prepare, and serve balanced meals for seniors, ensuring food safety and addressing individual dietary needs to support health and prevent complications


8. Assist seniors during mealtimes, while observing and identifying signs of swallowing   difficulties to ensure safe feeding practices.


9. Apply and evaluate safe toileting assistance techniques by using adaptive equipment and promoting hygienic practices to preserve dignity, hygiene, and independence for seniors.


10. Apply and demonstrate  personal hygiene and grooming skills to assist seniors with tasks such as  bathing, oral care, and skin care to maintain their health, cleanliness, and self-esteem.


11. Demonstrate and evaluate safe transferring, positioning, and mobility techniques by utilizing proper body mechanics and mobility aids to enhance seniors' comfort, safety, and independence.
